Lead Mentor (Part-time)

At ThriveKids™ we believe in developing the most advanced and creative after school programs and camps available. As a Lead Mentor, you will be responsible for working with fellow staff, developing curriculum and leading  programs for both neurotypical and neurodiverse kids ages 4 to 14. Our programs are proprietary and unique, reaching a range of children from gifted to learning exceptionalities who many need a little extra help. We  need your help supporting our programs and our exceptional clients by offering kindess and empathy and an amazing program! 

This position will start at 20 hours per week, and may offer longer hours dependent upon experience and availability.

Unlike academic tutoring, physical education, or organized classes and sports, ThriveKids is focused on a holistic approach to enrichment. Kids learn how to become more independent and confident through the tools we give them in the program.

Through our proprietary curriculum, ThriveKids integrates vigorous exercise, life skills training, mindfulness, social behavior, creative arts, and nutrition to give your child the ability to stay focused and do well in all aspects of their daily lives. There is so much we would like to teach our children as we prepare them for the world.

Unshakable confidence, fearless self-expression and the path to finding focus and inner calm are essential, but these skills are not taught in any school. Until now there has been no way to nurture these crucial abilities in our children in one integrated program, that gives kids sustainable life skills.

Job Summary

You will:

-Execute a proprietary program of 20/20/20 (20 minutes of fun vigorous exercise, 20 minutes of Life Skills training and 20 minutes of mindfulness, social skills and relaxation)

-Implement Food is Fuel

-Implement STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) curriculum

-Facilitate group skills/team building

Please note that this role requires working with a group of kids, not one to one, whereby strong communication and group facilitation and leadership skills are required.

Reporting to the CEO/Founder and supported by the General Manager, the following are the requirements for the role(s);

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in a verbal and written manner.
  • Strong group facilitation skills – the role will require facilitating activities with a group of kids, not one to one.
  • Ability to accept supervision and guidance
  • Experience with program planning and implementation
  • Experience working with children with a variety of needs/diagnoses (sensory processing disorder, feeding concerns, fine motor delay, gross motor delay, writing issues, Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, DCD, etc.)
  • Good character, integrity, and adaptability
  • Self-directed, self-learner and willing to work independently
  • Available to work after school and evening hours during the weekdays and possibly weekends
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
  • Clearance of Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Level C and Emergency First Aid.
  • Computer skills – able to use Excel and experience with data and metrics
  • Open to learning support skills such as office administration, technology and marketing/social media etc. 
  • Independent,self-motivated and driven!

Required experience:

  • Working with or knowledge and exposure to Children through other programs: two years
  • Working with or knowledge and exposure to Children through other programs: some knowledge or exposure to children with ADD, ADHD, and social behavioral challenges: two years
  • Assets:

– Experience in a particular sport or movement classes

– Experience and enjoyment with cooking and baking

– Experience with different languages

– Enjoys working with social media (Instagram, TikTok etc)

Start Date – Immediately

Job Type: 20 Hours Weekly, $14 to $16/hour
